Nine50 was founded by Lee-Ann Kelly in Sydney, Australia 2006.

After a successful career in Retail Sales and Management Lee-Ann made the move to pursue her dream of business ownership and embarked on a mission to find Silver Jewellery unique to the Australian market. Lee-Ann pursued handmade Silver Jewellery that she could be passionate about selling at the same time as making purchases that kept traditional skills alive and helped people and communities to prosper." 

January 2007 Nine50 was born. Amazingly Lee-Ann's family was already at that time sponsoring a child in Cusco, Peru. Lee-Ann said  " I had very little international travel experience and barely knew anything about South America ". Within a few months of placing her first order Lee-Ann travelled to Lima, Peru for the first time to meet with suppliers, visit sponsor children and experience Peruvian culture for the first time. 

Initially selling Party Plan, Nine50 recruited consultants in both Sydney and Melbourne and in addition developed a wholesale business selling to boutique stores around Australia." I am forever grateful to my family, Nine50 consultants and retailers who supported me and believed in Nine50 in those early days." says Lee-Ann. Trading now for over 20 years Nine50 has a large and loyal customer base supported by many wonderful people. In addition to Child Sponsorship and Child Sponsorship Advocacy through www.compassion.com.au, Nine50 has also provided over 150 micro-loans to Peruvian women wanting to begin or expand a business via Kiva.org .

Nine50 customers are impacting the lives of many wonderful Peruvian business owners and Artisans who create Nine50 Jewellery and Giftware. Nine50 Silver is 950/1000 parts silver (95%), which has a greater purity than 925 Sterling Silver 925/1000 (92.5%). Every piece of Nine50 Jewellery is handcrafted using techniques handed down over hundreds of years. Nine50 chooses to purchase products that are made in accordance with Fairtrade values and we have  undertaken extensive research (including extensive travel) to ensure suppliers act in compliance with local and international laws and strives to build equitable and sustainable trading partnerships.
